Wings rally past Aces behind Fudd’s breakout night
Dallas outscored Las Vegas by 16 in the second half to secure its second straight win.
ARLINGTON – The Dallas Wings continued to gel on Thursday night with a 95-87 win over the defending champion Las Vegas Aces at a sold out College Park Center.
Why it matters: The Wings have now won back-to-back games against playoff caliber teams after knocking off the New York Liberty on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn.
The big picture: The Wings trailed for much of the first half before turning the game around after halftime, outscoring the Aces 50-34 over the final two quarters.
What happened: Rookie guard Azzi Fudd scored 22 points in her first WNBA start, continuing from where she left off on Sunday.
- Jessica Shepard delivered a dominant performance, posting 22 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists for her second triple-double of the season.
- Paige Bueckers added 20 points and six assists
By the numbers:
- Dallas shot 49% from the field and 45% from three-point range.
- The Wings won the rebounding battle 39-33 behind Shepard’s performance on the glass.
- Las Vegas committed just five turnovers, but Dallas’ offensive firepower proved too much to overcome.
What they're saying: Wings Head Coach Jose Fernandez said despite the impressive win, his team can still be better.
- “We’re not even close to being at the level that I think we can be at," he said after the game.
What’s next: The Wings will try to extend their winning streak Sunday when they host Seattle.
