Match Grades: San Antonio FC Falls In Oklahoma
SAFC had another frustrating match for the second consecutive weekend.
San Antonio FC left Oklahoma empty-handed Saturday night, falling 2-0 to FC Tulsa despite producing plenty of scoring chances.
Why it matters: SAFC had another frustrating match for the second consecutive weekend, controlling play but struggling to finish.
“It was a sloppy start. In the first 10 minutes we were in the game, that’s when Tulsa scored the goal and created a second chance,” San Antonio Head Coach Carlos Llamosa said. “It could’ve been 2-0, but after that, I think we played face-to-face against Tulsa. We created chances.”

The loss sees San Antonio drop to fifth place in a tight USL Championship Western Conference with just four matches remaining in the regular season.
Here are the grades for SAFC’s loss against Tulsa on Saturday.
Defense: C+
Defensively, SAFC looked organized for much of the match, but gave up an early goal to Taylor Calheira just eight minutes into the game before Lamar Batista burned his old team with a goal off a set piece.
While Richard Sanchez made four saves on the night, the back line never fully settled after that early goal, and San Antonio did not have the offensive punch to draw level before the goal from Batista.
“Obviously, it’s disappointing to lose these games,” SAFC Defender Shannon Gomez said. “You want to go up against the best and play against the best, and right now, they are top of the table in the Western Conference. It was a disappointing result.”
